Greater capability with our new SWI Duplex Gen IV

At PPC Flashings, we continue to invest in equipment that improves the way we manufacture and helps us deliver better outcomes for our customers.

The latest addition to our fabrication facility is the SWI Duplex Gen IV, an advanced folding machine that expands our capability across custom flashings, trims and folded sheet metal components.

Designed to improve accuracy, flexibility and material handling, the new machine allows our team to manufacture a broader range of profiles more efficiently while maintaining the quality and consistency our customers expect.

For builders, roof plumbers, cladding contractors and other construction professionals, the investment means greater flexibility, longer flashing capability, fewer joins and a more streamlined manufacturing process.

Longer flashings. Fewer joins.

One of the major advantages of the SWI Duplex Gen IV is its ability to manufacture flashings and trims up to 8.2 metres in length.

Producing longer components in a single operation can significantly reduce the need for joins across a project.

For customers, fewer joins can mean a cleaner finished appearance, simpler installation and a more practical solution for long roof, wall and façade applications.

This increased long-length capability also gives our team greater flexibility when working with customised project requirements where standard lengths may not provide the best result.

More efficient material handling

The SWI Duplex Gen IV also introduces side loading capability, allowing material to move through the folding process more efficiently.

Sheets ranging from approximately 100 mm to 1200 mm wide can be loaded from the side of the machine, reducing the amount of manual repositioning required during production.

This is particularly beneficial when working with larger sheets and longer components.

Reducing unnecessary sheet movement helps minimise the need for operators to repeatedly rotate, lift or reposition material before folding. This creates a more efficient workflow while also reducing the opportunity for finished surfaces to be dragged, knocked or damaged during handling.

For repetitive jobs and larger production runs, the result is a more logical material flow through the workshop and a more efficient manufacturing process.

Greater flexibility for complex flashings

Not every project calls for a standard flashing.

The new folding system gives PPC Flashings greater flexibility to manufacture deeper, tapered and more complex folded components.

A dual up/down folding system allows multiple folds to be completed without continually turning the sheet over during production.

Reducing the number of manual handling steps helps streamline the manufacturing process while also improving consistency between components.

The machine can achieve folding angles of up to 150 degrees, while tapering capability of up to 10 degrees allows our team to accommodate specialised components and non-standard applications.

A generous 400 mm open height also provides additional clearance when producing deeper or more complicated profiles.

Together, these capabilities allow us to respond to a wider variety of custom flashing requirements.

Accuracy and consistency

Quality fabrication depends on accuracy at every stage.

The SWI Duplex Gen IV incorporates a recessed fold apron geometry designed to produce cleaner and more consistent folds during processing.

Its 10 mm minimum back gauge distance also enables accurate positioning when working with smaller or shorter components.

These features help our fabrication team maintain accuracy and repeatability across both straightforward flashings and more detailed custom profiles.

For customers, that means consistent components designed to arrive on site ready for efficient installation.

More room to work

Complex flashings often require additional space during fabrication, particularly where larger sheets or deeper folded profiles are involved.

The machine provides a large 280-degree free-space working area, giving operators greater room to manipulate material around the folding zone.

This helps reduce interference between the sheet and the machine during processing and makes it easier to manufacture larger or more complicated flashing profiles.

Combined with the side loading system and dual-direction folding capability, this creates a more efficient and practical manufacturing environment for our team.

Investing in better outcomes for our customers

The addition of the SWI Duplex Gen IV is about more than adding another machine to our workshop.

It represents an ongoing investment in the capability, efficiency and quality of PPC Flashings.

By improving the way we handle material, increasing the range of profiles we can manufacture and expanding our long-length folding capability, we can continue providing our customers with practical custom solutions across a wide variety of roofing, cladding and building applications.

The benefits are straightforward:

  • Longer flashings and trims with fewer joins
  • Greater flexibility for custom and complex profiles
  • Cleaner, more consistent folding
  • Reduced material handling and repositioning
  • Lower risk of material damage during production
  • More efficient workflow and production
  • Improved consistency across repetitive fabrication
  • Greater manufacturing capability for specialised projects

From straightforward flashings through to longer and more complex folded components, our new SWI Duplex Gen IV gives PPC Flashings even greater capability to support our customers.
